Suicide by Cop: Assessment, De-Escalation and Investigations

(This is a One Day course offered on three different days)

The purpose of this course is to provide relevant training with the objective of reducing incidents of SBC. Participants will have a better understanding of SbC and be better equipped to identify precursors and potential incidents of SBC; Be better prepared to de-escalate suicidal subjects with the goal of reducing violent encounters with suicidal subjects; and in the event that there is a completed act of SBC, be better prepared to investigate the suicidal actions of the subject and responses with the goal of preventing future SbC events.

Presented by Rick Wall who has 38 years of experience in Law Enforcement (Los Angeles Police Dept, University of Texas-Houston, California State University), Expertise in Suicide by Cop, mass causality events and Threat Management; Internationally recognized expert in law enforcement responses to the mentally ill and has testified in front of the House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary on the impact of the mentally ill on law enforcement.
