Basic SRO

The Grady County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a FREE Basic SRO Course December 18 – 22, 2023. All classes will be from 08:00 to 17:00 daily and held at the Grady County Sheriff’s Office: 302 n 3rd St., Chickasha, OK 73018. This course is designed for peace officers who will be assigned as a School Resource Officer. It outlines the differences between working with youth in a school environment and working with adults in a patrol  environment.

Course blocks of instruction include:
● School Violence
● Teen Brain Development
● Teen Crisis Intervention
● FERPA
● School Law
● Social Media
● Vaping and Drug Use
● Students with Special Needs
● Student Diversity
● Title IX Issues
● Ethics
● Threat and Vulnerability Assessments
Each block of instruction includes relationship building with students and faculty with a heavy emphasis on class participation.
