August 16-18, the Oklahoma Sheriffs’ Association held the first newly revised Detention Officer Academy: Train the Trainer. The new course was designed specifically by Detention Administrators to cover topics required by State Standards and those which are particularly problematic within the detention community. Of those topics covered, included report writing, interpersonal communications, de-escalation techniques, ethics & inmate management as well as many more. We are grateful for those who participated in this pilot training, and the input which was given!
