The Grady County Sheriff’s Office is Seeking Applicants for the Position of Dispatcher

Position: Emergency Dispatcher
Starting salary: $2,629.60 Monthly

The Grady County Sheriff’s Office is looking for outstanding individuals to be dedicated and motivated emergency dispatchers. The ideal candidate is a person who is committed to public service and making a positive impact on the community.

As a Grady County Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher, you will handle emergency and non-emergency calls, operate the 911 and non-emergency system, assign law enforcement, fire department, and other emergency service providers to calls for service, and communicate important public safety information to emergency responders and the public.

Selection Process
Applicants must successfully complete the following steps in the hiring process before being hired as a Grady County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatcher:
• Application Review
• Screening Assessment
• Background Investigation

Preferred Experience
• Emergency dispatcher experience preferred but not required.

Major Responsibility and Activities
• Relate ordinances, policies, and methods to citizens relevant to reported problems
• Receive and forward radio traffic regarding pertinent information
• Receive, compose, forward, and route information to appropriate parties
• Answer 911 and administration calls

Requirements
• Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a valid driver license
• Must pass a background investigation
• Must be willing to work mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to use telephone, facsimile, computer, email, and radio
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail
• Must be able to handle stress effectively without it interfering with performance
• Must possess or be able to obtain appropriate certifications
• Must have excellent verbal communication skills
• Must be able to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
• Must possess basic computer skills and be proficient
• Must handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality
• No felony convictions
• No conviction for domestic assault
• No conviction for a crime of moral turpitude
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or meet eligibly requirements for working in the U.S.

Pay and Benefits
• Starting salary – $2,629.60 monthly, after training and obtaining OLETS certification pay will increase to $2,681.50 per month
